Free trials
My question is this:
Why is it like pulling teeth to get a free trial key? I would think that free trials for prospective customers would be a good thing. Allowing people to play guild wars could potentially make them players. Yet trying to recruit new players is tough when they want to 'try before they buy' because unlike many games Guild wars limits their free trials. I know there are those trilogy trial disks, but that is a 'buy so you can try scenario'. |

Because gold sellers/spammers/bots were using free trial keys massively in game to spam their websites, low end gold farming, buying accounts, etc. They restricted the free trials to eliminate the spam in game, which is more than I can say for most games. I played LOTRO for awhile and every day I logged on to have to delete like 5 messages in my mailbox from gold sellers.
Since they restricted this, I don't have a problem loading into Great Temple of Balthazaar without immediately being hit by a spam bot. |
